In the head of the crow (2)

Updated: May 4, 2022

Unsuspected

If the Ted Bundy case had such an impact, it's because it illustrates a real shock in the minds of Americans. The case fascinates, especially worries. It has definitely swept away this obsession that reassured us, to believe that a criminal, such a dangerous killer could not be a normal man. Because that's Ted Bundy too: charm, charisma and a touch of narcissism. The comparison obviously ends there.

The master card of the crow : the ability to reach out to people, unsuspected.

He wanders through the streets of Aumontzey or Granges-sur-Vologne, without anyone doubting anything of him. Nothing transpires from his crime, he smiles at the baker who finds him sympathetic, shakes the postman's hand and talks about the rain and the good weather with his neighbor. Yet this courteous and helpful man kidnapped and killed a child.

Yet this double-sided possibility seems to be ruled out of the Grégory case, and it is often the response to an unsuccessful investigation that drags on. The murderer hides his game well. The murderer is part of Villemin's entourage, but is not at the top of the list among the suspects. A name that may already be on the record, but which we will not think of ~ Note: Marcel & Jacqueline Jacob have been under the radar of investigators for many years.

It’s an integral part of the profiler role to think about the one whom no one is thinking about. Some will call it a false inquiry. When everyone is looking at the potential suspects on the left, the profiler is instead looking at the one who is not being paid attention just to the right. The unsuspected.

The crow never delves into intimate details concerning Léon Jacob, Grégory's great-grandfather and Monique Villemin's father. Why does the crow not exploit this at all? There is undoubtedly an interest hidden behind the abstraction of this event. We observe preferential paths that can be clues. Positioning yourself just under the radar is sometimes the best hiding place, the experienced criminologist knows, looking beyond appearances is often the key to a difficult and long investigation.

Emotive

The crow sees windows of opportunity for which he will decide whether to step in or not, unlike the icy killer, devoid of compassion for his neighbor, he is selective and will attack certain categories of people for whom he feels a deep hatred and will use different means to achieve his purpose.

The crow, unlike psychopaths who are emotionally absent, is sensitive and emotional. The crow feels remorse, we know that he covered the face of the child, which shows a feeling of discomfort and regret. He only experiences emotion selectively, he certainly suffers from hypersensitivity or in other words, from a strong emotivity.

The crow always lives between two waters, torn between an excessive internal anger and an emotional hyperreactivity which can emerge when evoking a strong memory or a question directly implicating his discomfort.

For example, the phone exchange with Liliane where she asks him about the Villemin family's rejection (of him).

For the first time, the crow is unsettled and no longer speaks. It’s indeed an overflow of hidden emotions, he is a powerful evil spreading fear and suddenly becomes a kid being scolded when he has done a big stupidity.

To the point where, destabilized, he tries to reverse the course of the discussion, but he will not succeed. He is forced to end the phone call.

Several studies converge on two specific areas of the brain, the amygdala and the orbitofrontal cortex. Studies support the image of the "cold killer", of the criminal whose hand does not shake.

The psychopath's brain does not feel the slightest emotion at the idea of being sanctioned for an action that is morally or socially unacceptable. These are people who always choose an immediate reward option, at the risk of later incurring the negative consequences of this choice.

Our crow is not in this scenario, even under the effect of anger, which he controls quite well. He uses this rigid, self-imposed method to achieve his purpose. The plan must not be undermined, even if it means suffering. Grégory's killer flirts with certain biological and social limits without ever going beyond them, he is aware of his actions, as well as of their repercussions, which leaves us to think that he is responsible for his actions with total discernment. Note that only a case study could determine if he is fully conscious and that no disorder alters this.

Vindictive

The crow is vindictive, and he has been able to flirt with his revenge on various occasions. He tasted it. We are of course thinking of the night he came to the Villemin house when Christine's mother was looking after little Grégory. The grandmother was awakened by the agonizing tears of the child.

Most of them feel at some point in their life the feeling of wanting revenge for an injustice, for a mockery.

What unbearable injustice has the raven suffered [from the Villemins] to speak of revenge and end up killing a child? A cowardly and monstrous act.

Is it disproportionate? For him no, he mixes everything up, he brings together the collective ills of this family that he hates more than anything else, Albert to begin with, and the unbearable sight on a daily basis that one of his sons (Jean-Marie) succeed in society.

With the others, he is rather quiet, the Villemin children suffer a lot and he's a spectator, but like a pebble in his shoe he no longer supports the Chef, he must put an end to this, it must stop.

Immediate or delayed, spontaneous or premeditated, revenge presents different faces. In this, it differs from the punishment~sanction pronounced in the event of non-respect of a rule previously decreed by an authority, & of the response, ~ "simple" response to an external aggression.

There is not one possible mode of revenge, but several, which are expressed differently depending on the origin of the attack. If we take a closer look, Grégory is the top of the pyramid, on the scale of vengeance we cannot aim higher. Jean-Marie's son represents absolute vengeance. Justice is there, precisely, to avoid escalation and to offer a satisfactory alternative to savage revenge. Our moral visions are deviated and we imagine forms, ways and situations to transmit the pain that makes us suffer to the person responsible for it. So, it is important to understand that revenge has little to do with morals. Revenge is an impulse, it is the catharsis of rage and hatred. They are profiles who believe they have the absolute truth just like the crow. They are law and justice, they are the clear example of what everyone should be.

These people present dichotomous reasoning: you are with me or you are not. The crow is perfectly characterized in this process, he wants to do justice.

The crow writes letters and announces his demands under pain of sanction: "you must no longer associate with the chef ... the choice is yours, life or death". The crow takes his ease, he has still not been unmasked ! He has a vindictive signature.

The crow has the particularity of straying from the usual paths, as a will to be unique in his methods. He varies his behavior, both to destabilize and to demonstrate his strength to be different from ordinary people. A revenge bearing a message, a mark or a symbol. A signature.

Narcissistic

Narcissistic personality disorder is characterized by a constant sense of superiority (megalomania), a need to be admired, and a lack of empathy. The word narcissism comes from the Greek character Narcissus, who falls in love with his own image reflected in the water. Narcissists are, by extension, people who love and admire themselves beyond reason. The concept of narcissism is introduced into psychiatry by Dr Sigmund Freud. There are several categories around narcissism, but what characterizes the crow the most is the manipulative narcissist. He has no qualms about using others to get what he wants. The narcissistic pervert experiences a lack of self~esteem which makes you lose the means at the slightest failure. To hide this fragility, narcissists make others believe that they are sure of themselves and good at everything.

During the phone calls, we notice a pronounced voice posture, it is intentionally a narcissistic posture.

This is a defense mechanism not to be destroyed again. Parents who are narcissists themselves have never taught their children empathy and modesty.

It should be noted that the narcissism of the crow is manifested by his malicious toxicity, he installs at first contact an unhealthy and harmful feeling unbreathable*. We are all led to meet one day, if it has not already been done, a person suffering from this pathology to different degrees, but the one who poisoned the Villemin family is in addition an obsessive narcissist with a pronounced taste for psychological torture. The crow is the one who will come and tie the rope to help you hang yourself while everyone else will try to talk you out of it.

The characteristic of manipulators? They have many faces. They can be extroverts, bon vivant, cultured, altruistic, or shy, but also bossy and tyrannical. They go from facet to facet in just a few seconds.

The crow suffers from a slight deficiency of the personality disorder without being a schizophrenic, he adopts a changing posture in relation to the state of his emotions and the situation. If you upset narcissistic perverts, for example, they can go from deep sadness to terrible fury in an instant. But, once again, the crow derogates from one of this rule: he contains his anger where most vacillate, because determined manipulator, he will think above all about the safeguard of his objectives. He can reflect on the image he reflects while listening to you. The raven is quick-witted, he sets traps against his opponents. The tranquility of the family prevents the rest of his malevolent spirit, and a contrario their sufferings and anxieties mean for him satisfaction and sweet consolation.

It’s therefore necessary to think carefully before affirming a person is a psychopath. The crow is often disparaged as a psychopath due to the horror of his crime and the phone frenzy he put on the Villemin family, but this is a misnomer.

Psychopaths and narcissists share many common traits, including a lack of remorse or empathy towards others, an absence of guilt or the ability to take responsibility for their actions, a disregard for laws and social conventions, an inclination for violence. Psychopaths do not let themselves be controlled by the immediate moment and, therefore, make few mistakes.

It’s because the crow conceals his emotions that he is cheating on his world. The analysis of the murder of the child speaks volumes ~ more than the calls or the letters.

Narcissistic or psychopathic perverts ? Many psychologists are still debating this point: should they be distinguished from each other? Narcissistic perversion includes behaviors that can result from brain damage, as well as abandonment and / or childhood trauma. The childhood of the crow is undoubtedly the key to understanding the problem, only a deep analysis could reveal precisely the origin of the disorder.

At this point, it is important to understand that the psychological analysis of the crow remains a perilous style exercise, because to establish a case study, it’s necessary to apprehend the author, his mental evaluation will then be possible. The psychological profile of the crow is formed from the elements of investigation available, it will provide a precise portrait of course, but always subject to some errors, unlike what we can see in fictions and series. Again, childhood is often the determining factor.

The crow pushes narcissism far on its scale and he pushes the limits of this pathology, he shows himself patient and calm where other narcissistic perverts lose their control. He adapts his behavior according to the person with whom he exchanges, while taking into account his purpose, which will remain for him the most important.

Intelligent

What determines the intelligence of the crow is first of all its modus operandi on the day of the crime.

The kidnapping in broad daylight, in an allotted time, in a place where witnesses intersect. Also, telephone exchanges can last up to 40 minutes without ever letting slip the slightest suspicion of one's identity. Only a person with great intelligence can achieve this feat.

The time between listening and adapting the crow’s response suggests that his comprehension is remarkable. His relevance as well as his reasoning confirm this just as much.

We detect an ability to adapt to situations and a strong ability to work around a problem. We can establish a certain sagacity about his modus operandi. Intelligence combined with a tortured mind hungry for revenge is often a thoroughly dangerous mixture. A strong taste for torture often stems from suffering due to humiliation in an earlier period.

There is necessarily a past causality, such as the reflection of a person or a group of people, referring to a traumatic event linked to the family environment (the Villemins). The crow, a tortured, manipulative and intelligent character, develops without great difficulty his fantasized projections on people.

The crow may not be considered a person with a high IQ to those around him, yet we can safely say that he has heightened intelligence. Contrary to popular belief, where intelligence is synonymous with long studies and many degrees, it’s actually the ability to understand, reason and adapt quickly. When we analyze the crow, there is no doubt that he easily combines these characteristics.

~ The brain of a group ~

There are certainly at least two people involved in the kidnapping and murder of Grégory. Nevertheless, the fact remains that there is a leader, the one who "pulls the strings" of this Machiavellian scenario. It appears, during certain calls, voices in the background, behind the voice of the crow. Sometimes it was the voice of a child or the sneers of a woman in a trance or hysterical state, but also footsteps or breaths. This could prove that there are at least two protagonists. The versatile management of his interventions reinforces the theory of family conspiracy. How can he be so well informed so quickly ?!

The potential solution: he has access to means of communication such as phone as part of his work, or he is placed in a strategic place and listens to everything he can hear, for example in a 'Café' where gossip abounds. There is first of all one of these two alternatives which explains why he is also well informed, but a third hypothesis, is in my opinion the most likely if one had to trust the elements of the file, it's of course, the family track.

The proximity of the crow is part of their daily life. We can easily assume that the question that haunts Gregory's father to this day is: who is he? Why can't I shed light on this individual who took my child from me and whom I necessarily know?

It's precisely here that the raven has a continual sense of power, ~ I have destroyed you and I continue to make you suffer. We think of that terrible sentence: "I hope you die of grief. My revenge is done”.

Undeniably, the Villemin family is linked to the crow. And it is all the peculiarity of this case that makes it unique in its kind. The child's parents relentlessly revisit the day of October 16, 1984, as well as the calls and letters, sentence after sentence, word after word, like a throbbing and agonizing symphony repeated in a loop. Alone or in a group, the crow is the main conductor. We imagine a self-satisfaction of still being in the shadow of anonymity, while still being in the media light almost 40 years later, how does he feel? His partners are no doubt afraid of speaking because they are involved - taking part in calls, writing letters, giving information?

This is a theory that is often mentioned. It’s difficult to imagine that a group of people kept this secret for so long, compared to other criminal cases (law of silence). Sooner or later they betray themselves. Imagine such a heavy-handed pact, linking people in such secrecy for so long, in such a small and exposed perimeter. Anyway, he decides, coordinates and does not wish to be in the background.

The crow knows the Villemin family closely and has perhaps shared moments with them, he shows compassion towards them, perhaps even reassures them, he shows a certain enthusiasm in wanting to find this odious character, while he himself is the one wanted.

We remember the answer of Jean-Marie Villemin following the question of the journalist Jean-> Michel Bezzina: “Do you know the murderer of your son?”

> The response from Gregory's father was “ Yes, I know him.”

The peculiarity of this crow, he has a double face in all conscience. The crow can play the compassionate soul, and he must certainly show some dismay about the "guy."

The manipulator has a hold over his subjects, who even do not realize it. It’s normal for a man to think that he is the 'master of his actions', so it’s hard to admit that we are the puppets under the yoke of a hypocritical manipulator, but this is a reality. If there is one important point to understand through reading this analysis: the main strength of this crow is here, he is deceiving those around him and remains firm on that.

Let’s no longer look for the conflicts in the apparent sense, but on the contrary, let’s look at the one who showed empathy towards them, the one who listened to them.

Difficult to hear, sometimes the victims of manipulation will take months to accept that they have been deceived by a loved one, because the stronger the event is, the more difficult the acceptance will be. The unsuspected murderer, hence the difficulty of this case.

How do you know when this skillful manipulator tells us what he wants you to see? While we are busy with our daily lives, he draws up plans, he rehearses in advance the scenes that he plays wonderfully before our eyes, like an actor, so convincing that we cannot imagine for a single second what hides behind the curtains.

The face of truth and the face of lies. A vertiginous fall for those who share his daily life. The crow will wear the opposite of his true face to those he wants to deceive. Double personality disorder has nothing to do with psychotic conditions in general, and schizophrenia in particular. These are indeed very distinct disorders, the causes and treatment of which are very different.

About the crow, this is not a personality disorder at all, but rather the use of multiple facets serving well-established plans. Double personality disorder due to memory lapses related to both the present and the past. During these "blackout" periods, the affected person lives in a state of dissociation. This is a changed state of consciousness in which the person is not in touch with their thoughts or emotions. Their behavior can also be “disconnected.”

We all experience moments of dissociation. It is often said that “we are in the moon”. This is a “dissociative state.” Without any pathological value of course. The crow is aware of each of his actions, through his letters and calls, we do not notice any troubles in this direction.

It is established that he plays a role of conscious and calculated manipulation.

In summary, we can assume that we are dealing with a sadistic individual with a will to harm psychologically and physically. He is manipulative and calculating, he is pathological jealous in his serious, obsessive and sickly form. He is methodical in an organized sense, he suffers from an inferiority complex which he represses. He is anti-social.

He is very emotional and hypersensitive, which may eventually show that he is not a psychopath in his severe form. He is vindictive in the punitive sense of the word. He is narcissistic. His empathy will vary from person to person. He has certainly received a strict education, he is in need of affection and needs recognition, he will tend to control his anger. He is intelligent but does not have a great education. He is thoughtful and patient.

He adopted a great sense of organization through an institution without idealizing it. We strongly believe that his original trauma stems from the family environment. He regrets his crime which is the result of necessity, but he does not regret his revenge.

This analysis is based on an assessment which is sometimes subject to interpretation, nevertheless, it’s equally based on established facts.
To apprehend the crow remains the definitive means of establishing his criminal and psychological profile in an exact and precise way.
